MIESCOR Infrastructure Development Corporation (MIDC) participated in the 2024 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day on September 21 at SM by the Bay Central Park, Mall of Asia in Pasay, Philippines. In line with the “Make It Happen” campaign, MIDC employees joined forces with over 23,000 volunteers from various organizations and communities across the country. This annual event, organized by SM in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Local Government Units (LGUs), and the International Coastal Cleanup Organization, demonstrates a shared commitment to promoting cleaner seas and oceans.
“We Make It Happen is a great event where we can take personal responsibility, which leads to collective action, and that’s our ethos at MIDC. We like to practice that not just in the working environment, but also in our communities,” said Ricky Steyn, Interim President and CEO of MIDC.
MIDC’s participation underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce pollution and protect marine ecosystems. Through small, collective actions, the team helped make a meaningful impact in preserving our coastlines for future generations. A total of 135,000 kg of waste was collected during the event, which will be properly disposed of through designated facilities and channels.
